3 Major Issues Jeep Owners Ignore

Jeep owners are a unique species. Their dedication to the Jeep brand is remarkable. Through thick and thin they will stick with their Jeep and overlook any flaws that Jeeps have, even if it is a part wearing on their vehicle. The issues overlooked or ignored could be minor, or they could be quite serious.

At Bulldawg, our Mechanics get to see every one of these problems first hand. To shed light on the most common problems to look out for when purchasing a jeep, we have put together a list of the 3 most notorious Jeep wrangler issues...

1) LEAKS

A frequent complaint that pops up amongst some Jeep wrangler owners is water leaking into the vehicle through the upper corner of both the driver and passenger side doors.

The biggest issue is that there is a large amount of water that comes in and pools on the floorboards, sometimes as much as two inches deep. The water tends to enter the vehicle by seeping down the A-pillar.

While the leaking water can be annoying, it doesn’t affect the driveability of the jeep. For this reason, it often goes unfixed because it sometimes isn’t a big issue. Only if the doors are letting in copious amounts of water can this be an issue to electrical components and the quality of the interior fabric or leather? But then again, any of the problems should definitely not be ignored if they get to their extreme level.

This leaking problem is more prevalent in the older models and particularly those soft-top models. Repair shops are replacing the seal around the doors in hopes of alleviating the problem for angry customers that are tired of wet floors in their jeep. However, a more efficient and cost-effective solution maybe replacing the soft top with a hardtop roof.

One of the main resolutions to this leaking problem is installing a hardtop for your Jeep Wrangler. This is mainly because the soft top on a Jeep Wrangler is probably the leakiest part of the vehicle. The soft top is essentially vinyl held together with overlapping zippers and Velcro. While it is relatively waterproof when it leaves the factory, over time it will wear out and begin leaking. By replacing your Wrangler's soft top with a hardtop and your half-doors with full doors, you can significantly reduce the amount of water that will come into your Jeep.

At Bulldawg MFG, we have the ability to prevent/safeguard you from excess leakages, by creating a specifically made hardtop for your Jeep Wrangler vehicle.

Whether you are in need of a JK Jeep Wrangler Hardtop, an LJ hardtop, or even a TJ hardtop, our skilled professionals have the high-quality machinery and skills to develop a product you will cherish.

For example, our new and exclusive LJ hardtop allows you to own a product that will function to your specific needs and requirements. Whether it's through the addition of LJ roof racks for off-road adventures, or specially built dual side opening discovery/slider windows, your jeep LJ wrangler will drive with the utmost ease and convenience - regardless of the weather conditions.

2) Soft Top Zippers Becoming Inoperable

With new modifications to the newer Jeep Wranglers - from the 2018 Wrangler JL onwards - with the simplest yet to lower. Owners of earlier JK-generation Wranglers have stipulated that the newer improvements Jeep have made to these vehicles have made it far easier for soft top zippers to be placed up and down in comparison to it's older counterparts - even in the most extreme weather conditions.

However, this is not always the case for older Jeep Wrangler models. Due to constant abuse from the elements, the zippers on soft tops become too corroded to move. If caught soon enough it can be prevented, but lots of Jeep owners just ignore the fact that the zippers are getting harder and harder to open. Eventually, they are faced with the fact that their soft top zippers no longer move and can’t be taken off on that beautiful day. The regular greasing these zippers require to remain in pristine condition can be a tedious task, and therefore they often get skipped or forgotten entirely.

3) Jeep Modifications (If Any)

Perhaps the best (and most fun) thing you can do with a Jeep is modify your Jeep. For those who might not understand the feeling, it’s like decorating for Christmas.

Therefore, you’re bound to come across a modified Jeep Wrangler when perusing a used Jeep vehicle. If you choose to buy a used modded Jeep Wrangler, you need to understand two things. First, it will be more expensive than a bare-bones Jeep. Second, there will be more parts you need to check.

Since these parts are aftermarket, the manufacturer doesn’t install them. There are dealerships with professionals where you can go to get them installed, but a lot of off-roading fans like installing the mods themselves. This is great for them, but what if they installed a modification wrong, sold it, and the dealership failed to notice? Mistakes happen, and it’s your job to make sure you know what you’re getting. So first and foremost, check to make sure the modifications are installed correctly.

At Bulldawg MFG, we have professional engineers who are highly skilled and trained to apply various Jeep hardtop modifications to your vehicle.
